There are no short cuts to get a Job, every one should prepare for the Interview. The interviewers are very clever, they ask the questions based on your resume.
I also used to go through few interview questions from the Internet and attended few Interviews, but the interviewers never asked those questions.
All they ask is from your resume. Based on my experience below are few tips to prepare for the interview.
- What are your daily tasks?
Daily the business doesn't talk to client to take requirements. Prepare a list of things that you work daily in the office. Few tasks would be
- Checking the project status
- Updating the status to clients. A simple email will work like we have started working on the Creating Lead from webform.
- Checking the email from the clients.
- Helping developers to understand the task given to them. Normally developers when they start coding, they will get so many questions, so BA is the only person who can answer those questions.
- Taking any Scheduled meetings etc..
2. What are latest challenges that you have faced in your latest project? (This is very important question that every interviewer will ask)
- Prepare the list of challenges that you have faced in the project. You will not find any article on the internet on the challenges faced on your project, so you have to work on them and prepare a list.
- Most of the challenges would be making him understand how we implement the requirement in the Product/Application.
- Explaining the requirements to the development team, so that they shouldn't have any doubts/questions/assumptions.
- Most important challenge, Normally few clients will assume few things will be covered by the Product/application as its industry standard functionality based on his process, but Business Analyst might missed this requirement. Client will doesn't tell, and Business analyst might not think about that requirement. After 80% of the implementation is done, client is ask about the requirement, so now again this will be raised as a new change request and again discussion would start with the management to give a quotation for that change request which client most of the times doesn't accept.
3. The interviewer will ask question about the Process that you have implemented for the Project?
4. The interviewer will ask about the Gap analysis that what you done for one of your project in your resume.
- you have prepare the list of Gap analysis that you have done for each and every project you did. If you didn't do any Gap analysis also, please list few points and be prepared.
5. Does any of your project got delayed and Why?
- Most of the Projects will get delayed by the Developers (Technical issues faced while coding ), and late response from the clients. Most of the time clients doesn't give quick response for the queries we ask while the Project implementation is going on. So, its Business Analyst responsibility to make the all the requirements are gathered at the initial stages only.
6. Did you write any test cases for the Project. The interviewer will ask what are the test cases you wrote for the respective scenario in respective project.
7. How will you handle the client, they the technology (asp.net/java) is not offered by the your company, but the client wants his application to develop in Java only which your company doesn't have the expertise.
- for this you should have basic knowledge on all the technologies and its advantages. So that you can explain the drawbacks on the technology which client wants and benefits about the technology which your company offers.
8. Few questions on the Activity, Use case and Sequence diagrams. (This questions will be asked rarely but you should be prepared for it).
9. Most common and important question. Why you want to change the Job?
- do some research about the company what they offer and highlight those points like your company offers services on Cloud computing which am very interested to work on this latest technology that you provide etc... Prepare some points and highlight them in the front of interviewer.
